Life as a Trainee lawyer

  • Experiences as trainee lawyers differ depending what area of practice you may chose and size of law firm.

Some common grounds of being a trainee lawyer are:

  • It is not a 9 to 5 job. Expect to work long hours!
  • In the beginning, it is very likely that one will be doing administrative tasks
  • Senior lawyer will be the one giving legal advice. As a trainee, one would not be giving legal advice
  • As lawyers, one will be working with various clients
  • You are starting at the bottom of the law firm
  • Be prepared to engage in a lot of firm activities and business development events
