Qualifications
Michael Leung, who looks after the strategy and finance at Bearing Academy, hold a BA (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge and an MBA (with Distinction) from INSEAD.

Biography
Michael was born and educated in Hong Kong until he was 15.  By then, he emigrated to the UK with his family and studied A-level in Birmingham.  He developed a strong interest in Mathematics and was ranked among top 20 A-level students across the UK, and was trained in Trinity College, Cambridge during Easter holiday for 2 years with fellow advanced students.  He developed an affinity to Trinity and was subsequently admitted to read Mathematics at the College.  Within the intensely intellectual and wonderful diverse atmosphere of Cambridge, it inspired Michael to develop a strong desire for an international career.  After graduation Michael work for various financial institutions and consulting firms for 5 years in Hong Kong before enrolling to INSEAD for their MBA program.

The MBA experience turned out to be life-changing for Michael.  He has made some life-long friends across the world during the program, and has embarked on an international career.  He spent 3 years at McKinsey as a management consultant where he worked for 10+ financial institutions in Asia.  He advised clients on issues from strategy through to operational optimization.  After McKinsey he worked in a global bank (Barclays Capital) and a private equity fund management company (Olivant) to gain finance and investment experience.  Currently he is working in the insurance industry in AIA’s group office in a capacity overseeing the applications for the investment department group-wide.  In this role he is responsible for development of the applications to meet the strategic requirements of AIA.

Professionally he is known to his peers for his passion to delivery on target, and remain fair and caring while doing so.  He is an wine enthusiast keen to explore wines globally, with a specific goal of uncovering hidden gems among lesser-known producers, regions and varieties.  In his spare time, he enjoys time with his family with his wife and 3-year old daughter.
