George Sheppard

Dr. George Sheppard works as an Emergency Physician and Clinical Instructor at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. He received his B.Sc.(Hons) in Pharmacology in 1992, and MD from the University of Alberta, in Edmonton in 1996. He did a residency in Rural Family Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland, and subsequently obtained Special Competence in Emergency Medicine in 2006. He also holds Fellowship in Family Medicine with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Dr. Sheppard was born in Edmonton and spent the most of his undergraduate education there, apart from one years each in Freiburg, Germany, and Paris, France. He became very adjusted to coastal living while studying on the East Coast of Canada, and has since settled in the modest climate of Canada's West Coast.

He has worked as a community family physician, emergency physician, surgical assistant, medical director for occupational rehabilitation and diabetes education. He takes particular pleasure in being able to explain medical issues to patients and patient groups in a manner that is relatable and easy to understand.

For years he has been very involved in medical training, particularly with exam preparation for learners for both Family Practice and Emergency Medicine.

He enjoys working with and programming computers in his spare time, and also likes to think that he can play guitar.
